Leadership & Administration
Assistant PrincipalI have been at Chirnside Park for 8 years and I love every minute of it. In my role I am still able to engage with the students on a regular basis.
I have three children, two sons and a daughter and three beautiful grandchildren. I enjoy fishing, eating out with friends, spending time with the family and travelling.
Business ManagerChirnside Park Primary School is a wonderful place to work. Every staff member is part of a team with similar values and goals and we all take great pride in the job we do.
I am married with two children and have a nine month old granddaughter. I enjoy spending time with my family, eating out, going to the movies and travelling.
Grade Prep Teachers
Teaching Prep at Chirnside Park Primary is extremely exciting and rewarding. We provide engaging classrooms for all our students to learn. I love the supportive environment we provide between the teachers, parents and students. We work closely together, striving to achieve personal bests. Outside of school I enjoy playing basketball and going to the gym.
I am a Prep Teacher at Chirnside Park Primary School. Prep is a huge growth year and I love watching the new little students mature and develop into independent learners, while learning to read and write. My classroom is full of singing, games and lots of laughs. I love going away in our caravan with my husband and three children and walking our dog Yuki along the beach.
Teaching Prep at Chirnside Park Primary is an extremely rewarding experience. I feel privileged to have a job which puts a smile on my face every day. I love getting to know each child as an individual learner and watching them grow throughout the year. Grade 1/2 TeacherTeaching Grade 1/2 is very rewarding particularly seeing the children grow and gain independence. I enjoy making a difference in the lives of the children I teach at CPPS. Out of school I love being with my family and taking my kids to their sports and activities. A good book and the need for holiday is never far away either!

Outside of school, I love spending my time dancing. This has made me keen to integrate music and movement within the classroom, as the students often love the opportunity to learn in creative ways.

My name is Selena Poulter and I am a new teacher this year at Chirnside Park Primary School. I have been teaching over thirteen years and love to watch students reach their full potential and strive to achieve their very best. In my spare time, I love to cook, travel and go on beach walks with my husband.

I really enjoy teaching the Year 5/6 students as it allows me to work closely with them to further develop their leadership skills. It is extremely satisfying seeing the growth of the Peer Mentors and Leadership team as the year progresses. I enjoy gardening, running and have a great interest in old classic cars.

I really love teaching and supporting the Year 5/6 students to grow as citizens by providing great programs to help them transition smoothly into high school. At home I love working with our animals and gardening on our hobby farm as well as spending time with my family.
I am an avid reader and I love being able to share stories with the kids and read the amazing stories they have created. When I’m not at school I love getting outdoors and going bike riding and walking and I also love spending time with my family and at the beach.
I love the fact that I am sowing the seeds to help students choose a fit, healthy and physically active lifestyle. It is amazing seeing the progression and improvement in students’ skill levels throughout the years. My favorite part of being a Physical Education teacher is watching the students thrive during interschool sports days. I myself am a keen runner who loves competing in track, cross country and road races. I also work in a gym outside of school and love my motorbikes, guitars and all animals.

Music Teacher & AUSLAN Teacher
Teaching Music is a wonderfully creative process I enjoy with the children. We love to sing and play a variety of instruments. I create a safe and fun environment for children to take risks in their learning. Teaching Auslan will be an exciting experience for our whole school community. As well as learning sign language this program aims to encourage students to be more empathetic and respectful of others. Outside of school, I love to travel, spend time at the beach and read a good book.
Children’s Art is my passion. Seeing them excited to creatively express themselves brings me great joy. The quality of work produced is a highlight, as is displaying it around the school. I love to help each student understand the importance of art and discover that art is a process, not just a product. When I’m not creating experiences for our students I love to visit Art galleries, go to live theatre and barrack for the Eagles football team.

Teacher's AideI love the supportive, friendly community within the school and being apart of a grade 1/2 class. Outside of the school, I am kept busy as Mum to 2 children and escaping on family get aways.
I’m really enjoying working with the Grade 1/2 class this year as a Teacher Aide. I am a mum of 3 daughters who are growing up way too fast, and live close to the Chirnside community. My days are filled with after school sports and outdoor time with my family. I enjoy the beach, camping and jigsaw puzzles.
I am an Integration Aide. I get great satisfaction when the penny drops and I’ve helped the student understand. The school is very supportive of my work. I enjoy traveling, meeting people and learning new things.
Forming special bonds and watching the students faces light up when you help them achieve a milestone they never thought they could is why I love my job as an Integration Aide so much.
I enjoy spending time with my husband and two beautiful boys, baking, cake decorating and walks on the beach.
I love coming to work each day and watching the proud smiles on children’s faces as they accomplish a task and pass a new milestone.

Extending our classrooms into the community

Just like everything we consume – the breath can either be a medicine or a poison; depending on how you use it.
With the help of research into neuroscience and neuroplasticity, we can now comfortably say that reshaping your mind and changing your brain is possible and anyone can do it.
This pranayama breathing exercise is a fantastic tool for developing concentration and mental clarity.
Extending the length of your breath will extend the range of your life by slowing down your heart rate, increasing feel-good chemicals and reducing the symptoms of stress and anxiety.
Finding time to relax is so important to your health and wellbeing and yet we so often put everything else first. In just a few minutes you can totally relax your mind and body with this simple relaxation and meditation exercise.
Because of mindfulness’s effectiveness in developing self-awareness, emotional self-regulation, cognition and concentration ts application in the treatment of cognitive disorders like ADHD in children has been adopted and explored by clinicians and psychologist as an alternative to medication.
In this pranayama activity, we move the breath from the lowest point of the spine to the highest point in six counts. The yogic breath is a deeply relaxing activity that helps to strengthen mind-body connection and trains you to stay focused and present.
